For the cover of its weekly issue on June 11, TIME magazine didn’t do things by halves: with Intel‘s Drone Light Show teams, Astraeus Aerial Cinema Systems and L.A. Drones, 958 drones were sent into the Sacramento suburban sky to take the typical shape of a TIME cover.
In the video below, you can see the impressive arrangement put in place to achieve this performance. The swarm of drones is filmed by a movie camera, itself mounted on a drone piloted by Astraeus teams.
In this special issue, the magazine not only discusses the changes that drones have brought to the world of photography, but also examines the impact that these devices have on our culture. Whether they are used in wartime or to protect endangered species, all aspects are covered.
