“There is something about the sun and sand that trances people out”
On the white, Australian sand, the bodies resemble sculptures, and that is what Taylor likes.
The bodies are exposed and a nap – which would normally be a private thing – becomes public. Yet, the pictures don’t aim to make the viewer uncomfortable. There is something peaceful, pure, and quiet that comes out of Taylor’s work, although the pictures were taken at one of the busiest beaches in Australia.
“Sometimes the subjects would wake from the sound of the shutter button, and I quickly turned the lens to the sky as if I was shooting a bird or something. This happened a few times. Nobody questioned me.
