Unfortunately, the increasing presence of armed violence has become the standard all over the world, but especially in the United States where we hear horrifying stories almost daily. It eventually numbs us, creates a feeling of powerlessness which brings us to say to ourselves upon listening to the news: “here we go again,” before dismissing the information.
These pictures aim to increase awareness by showing the survivors of shootings.
Most of the portraits were taken on the scene of the slaughter, which adds another dimension to Shot, because most of the sites are “normal” places where all of us go : shopping malls, churches, movie theatres, the gym, etc…
The project Shot concentrates on the lives that were transformed forever by the emotional and physical trauma. To see 101 survivors represented makes it something concrete.
